2011 marked another record year for visitors to BisManOnline logging a record 12 Million visits (up 33% over 2010 and 50% over 2009). In addition these visitors tracked over 215 Million Individual page views across both the main website and our mobile site designed for cell phones and tablets.2011 also saw a huge upswing in Mobile traffic logging just under 700,000 visits from smartphones and tablets. Compared to 280,000 visits in 2010, this marks a 150% increase in traffic from mobile devices. The 4th quarter (Oct - Dec) logged 394,000 visits alone making the 3 month period over 56% of the traffic for the entire year.
With nearly $2 Billion dollars worth of automobiles, real estate and merchandise changing hands this year, (up over 30%) we are showing an extreme increase in commerce taking place among our user base.
2012 stands to be even bigger with our current January traffic up over 20% from last January.
As BisManOnline continues to grow we will continue to develop new and innovative ways to connect buyers and sellers whether it is from your computerl, your cell phone, or your tablet PC.

BisManOnline offers Mobile Messaging and alerts that allow you to receive text alerts or emails directly on your mobile phone whenever new items match the search criteria you have saved.
With Saved Search Alerts, get notified whenever new items get posted!
To setup mobile alerts and notifications, take the following steps:
Enable Mobile Messaging
In the BisManOnline Member Center, click on the link titled "Edit / Enable Mobile Messaging" located under "ACCOUNT"
In the Mobile Messaging section, enter your mobile phone details to activate your mobile phone number.
After submitting the form, a text message will be sent to your mobile phone. Once you have received the message, it will contain an activation code to enter to complete your activation.
Once your phone is activated, it is ready to start receiving alerts. To enable alerts for Saved Searches as well as new messages, click "Notifications" on the right hand side of the page. (or, from the member center main page, click on "Change Email Notifications"
Select the check boxes and save your changes.
With these settings in place, any existing saved searches you have already enabled alerts on will begin to send text notifications to your cell phone as well.
To set up a new search, just use the "I'm Shopping For" search box, or browse categories and select the filters you wish to filter your results.
Once you have a search or set of filters in place, click the "Save This Search" button. Leave "Email Notifications" ON, and click "Save Search"

Ad Statistics is a set of information that is available on all classified ads placed on BisManOnline. Statistics give you a look into how popular your ad is, how people are finding your ad, and where they are coming from.
You can access your ad statistics within the member center when viewing your "My Ads" list, or, if you are logged in, via the special toolbar that appears for modifying your ad.
The Ad Toolbar
When viewing your ad (while logged in) a series of buttons appears on your listing including a button to access "Stats & Views" (seen above)
Clicking this button will bring you directly to the ad statistics page for this ad
Daily Stats
The daily ad statistics gives you a day by day look at the number of Impressions and Views your ad has received.
Impressions
Impressions counts the number of times your ad "Appears" anywhere on BisManOnline This includes appearing in the category pages, user search results, featured ad rotations, etc. Each time your ad "appears" in a listing for any user, it is counted as 1 "Impression". The Impressions column tabulates these totals on a daily basis.
Views
A "View" is the number of times a person has clicked on, or, "viewed" your ad in full. This would equate to someone clicking on your ad from the category it is in, or from a search result, or even perhaps from a link on another website such as Facebook. The "Views" column tabulates the total views for your ad on a daily basis.
Improving Impressions
Improving the number of impressions your listing receive, usually results in an increased number of views for your ad. Improving the number of impressions depends on many factors such as the category the ad is placed in, however, there are a number of steps you can take:
- Keywords - Be sure your ad contains words that you think people will search for when looking for your item. The BisManOnline search tool compares a users search term, to the words in your title and description. If your ad matches it is displayed. Ensuring your ad contains the correct keywords, will help other users find it
- Prominent Ad Upgrade - Add the Prominent Ad Upgrade to your listing and it will appear on the first page if its category for the duration of your ad. This ensures that every time a user visits that category, your ad will be shown.
- Featured Ad Rotation - This upgrade rotates your ad throughout the BisManOnline Home Page, as well as the main page of the category your ad is in.
Improve Views
To raise the number of times your ad is viewed, first start by reviewing the "Impressions" ideas above. To improve the likely-hood someone will view or click on your ad, there are a number of steps you can take.
- Descriptive Title - Ensure that the title of your ad contains enough information to entice a user to view it further.
- A Great Picture! - Ads without pictures receive far fewer views that ads with pictures. Be sure to post a good quality picture of your ad
- Post to Facebook - Post a link to your ad on Facebook and ask your friends to share it with their friends
- Post to other websites you frequent. Increase the number of people outside of BisManOnline that will see your ad
Searches
The Searches section will show you what search terms or keywords BisManOnline users searched on that led them to View/Click on your ad. (this is a count of "Views" not "Impressions") - Review this section on a daily basis to see if the words you think should lead to your ad are working. If not, review your ad title and description to ensure that your ad has proper keywords in it.
Pages
This section describes which pages on the BisManOnline site led users to your ad. Normally this will show the category and sub category page in which your ad was placed. It could include other pages such as the Recommended ads page, or even un-related pages if a user clicked on your ad from their recently viewed ads list, or their watch list.
Other Websites
To improve your statistics in this section, again, review your keywords, and post links to your classified ad on sites such as Facebook, etc.
Map
This section tracks the location of users that have viewed your listing. And tracks the number of views by location. This will allow you to see the geographic reach/interest your ad is receiving.
Conclusion
Improving your statistics includes many steps, and it is important to review your stats daily to see what impact your efforts are having on your listing. More Impressions = More Views = Greater chance of selling that item!

Recently we learned that the Bismarck/Mandan Area will require 8 Million Sandbags for the flood fighting efforts this week. About 4 Million have been produced and we have 4 Million to go.
The folks here at BisManOnline wondered what 8 Million Sandbags would actually look like, so we did a little math and a couple of sketches.
First, we based this on a sandbag size of 18" x 12" x 3" - Sandbags come in a variety of sizes, but we picked this size for the purposes of this little exercise...
First some facts:
Now - On to the pictures. First we start with a typical person and a typical sandbag on a pallet. Doesn't seem to bad right?
1 Sandbag
A 100 sandbags would get your started diking your house, but, you will need more.
Lets image 10 rows of pallets, 10 pallets deep (100 pallets in total).
This would be 10,000 sandbags on the ground, weighing in at 350,000 pounds....

Now we're getting somewhere! Thats a lot of truckloads of sand!

Get out and fight the flood folks - Fill sandbags at Sandbag Central, we have a tall order to fill.

- Stacked on top of each other, they would reach a height of 379 Miles, that would extend OVER 300 Miles into SPACE.
Now - On to the pictures. First we start with a typical person and a typical sandbag on a pallet. Doesn't seem to bad right?

So, now, lets fill the pallet with 100 Sandbags.... About 3500 POUNDS of sand!

You may have noticed a few changes around here, nothing big, but a number of things have been updated, enhanced, and added based on feedback from our users.
Here's a quick summary of some of the changes.
The Saved Searches, Watch List and Messages List will display their contents in a drop-down box for quicker access. We have also updated the Facebook link to show you more Facebook related ads, and a new item "Recommended" displaying a link to ads we recommend for you.
In addition, you will now notice the tabs for Photos, Street View and Map (where applicable)

Updated Toolbar
We've updated the toolbar for Logged In Users to give you quicker access to some of the items you use most.The Saved Searches, Watch List and Messages List will display their contents in a drop-down box for quicker access. Video Ads
Users now have the option to add Video to their ad and have it displayed directly on their ad page. Video Ads are available as an upgrade option, and require that you first upload the video to YouTube prior to adding to your ad.In addition, you will now notice the tabs for Photos, Street View and Map (where applicable)
Automatic Recommendations
Based on ads that you view, your saved searches, and your watch list, we generate a set of "Recommended Ads" that we think you might be interested in.Maps and Street Views
Text Ad to Phone Options
Looking at an ad, and getting ready to leave? - Quickly text the Phone Number, Address and Contact Name directly to your phone. You can even quickly text a link to the ad to view on our mobile site for Smartphones.Miscellaneous

BOB KUPPER BUYS RESSLER CHEVROLET, INC.
Feb. 7, 2011 MANDAN,N.D. – Ressler Chevrolet announced today that it will be changing its name. As of April 1, 2011, Ressler Chevrolet and Ressler Subaru will be known as Kupper Chevrolet and Kupper Subaru.
Bob Kupper is now sole owner and president of the new corporation.
“The name may change, but the dealership will remain the same,” states Kupper. “We want our customers to know although there is a different name on the sign, we’ve still got the same great people, same great service and same great deals.”
Kupper started at the dealership as a sales consultant. He soon moved into finance and in late 1998 he was asked to begin the buy-out process of the dealership. He has since worked at the store as general manager.
This will be the dealership’s fourth ownership change; Bob Chase Chevrolet, Ivan Gandrud Chevrolet, Ressler Chevrolet and now Kupper Chevrolet.
