Combating Scammers - What to Watch For2009-08-25Too often, on internet classified websites such as BismanOnline.com, "scammers" are somewhat of a fact of life, and we are in a constant battle to find them, remove their accounts and keep them, as much as possible, from contacting our customers. Overall, we have implemented a huge number of items to stop these people, most of whom are from out of state or out of country, from accessing the site, but, they many of them find ways around our blocks. We do pride ourselves in being able to block more of these scammers than most classified web sites do, but we have more work to do. First, as a consumer or seller, it is important to be smart when reviewing a message you receive from a potential buyer. Here are some Red Flags that should tip you off. 1. They want to send you a cashiers check through the mail - When you do feel you have found a scammer, be sure to notify us via our contact link in order to report them What we are Doing As we mentioned, we have already done a large number of things to block these scammers, and as a result, approx. 90% of all scammers aren't able to log in to the site at all. To battle the remaining 10%, within the next 30 days we will be implementing an account approval system, that requires our support staff to approve a new user account prior to them being able to send any messages. We will have more information on this coming soon as we approach the launch of this new feature. Thank you again for being BismanOnline.com customers! The BismanOnline Team.
