Remington Model 16 Autoloading

These were produced from 1915-1928 & were chambered in Remington Auto cartridge. .22 Remington Auto consists of a 45 grain projectile fired at a velocity of around 950 FPS. In terms of both dimensions and ballistics Remingtons round was similar to Winchesters .22 Autoloading round, both of which had shorter cases than .22LR and none of which are interchangeable. As a result Model 16 owners had to buy Remington UMC-made ammunition. Take-Down - Semi-Auto blowback action 22 barrel with open sights grooved trigger with the safety lever within the trigger guard - the ejection port is covered by a dust cover attached to the bolt. It is fed from a tube magazine in the butt with the mouth of the tube being located near the base of the butt-cap - the follower tube was held in place by a button catch. The Model 16s tube held 15 rounds and could be loaded through a scalloped loading port on the underside of the buttstock. The rifle weighs 5 pounds & is just over 39 inches long. The bore still has shine with very good rifling should still be very accurate. It has blued steel showing normal wear & handling marks with age. Should clean up better if you feel the need. All serial numbers match (RB 957) & there are no signs of refinishing or touch-ups it is an honest old Remington. This is a rare rifle that has been out of production for 96+ years - only 17,720 Model 16s were produced
