1924 Gurney Refrigerator Co. Ice Box Conversion

Made by: Gurney Refrigerator Co. / FOND DU LAC, Wis.

Model: White Bear “Cork Insulated”

The antique ice box was purchased from an elderly gentlemen in Missouri, it was then crated and shipped to North Dakota, it has been professionally restored (several months to restore)and converted into a “frost free” modern day refrigerator / cooler. In the old days, blocks of ice were used for cooling.

A well designed detachable base with castors was designed and constructed to blend into the old time 1920's ice box.

The detachable base contains a new high efficiency refrigeration system that uses environmentally friendly refrigerant (R-134A). All U.L. listed components were used. It can be plugged into any 115 Volt household outlet and serviced by any certified refrigeration technician if needed. ***(1) year warranty on refrigeration system.***

The ice box conversion is starting to become a popular trend, several companies in the U.S.A. specialize in this currently. Chances are very slim you will EVER see one with the Coke theme!

The inside and outside of the metal clad ice box was soda blasted and professionaly repainted with DuPont Fleet Red #60807AH (Coke Red) base coat / clear coat finish.

The Coca-Cola Theme was re-used.

The box is made out of solid wood, with tongue and groove construction and is metal clad.

White paint was removed from the oak wood around the doors and door jams, the oak wood was replaced in a few spots, the remainder was refinished and resealed to original condition; all the door gasket material was also replaced.

Insulation in the doors was replaced with Reflectix "Energy Star" rated insulation.

New oak racks for inside of the ice box were constructed, we also have the (2) original wire racks as well.

All the hinges and latches are brass and in original condition and were re-used.
