For sale is a 2006 SnoBear which is the first year of the modern design (tracks located on the outside, floor holes in the middle). I bought this SnoBear in 2022 from a resort in Northwestern Ontario where it had not been actively used for approx.. 10 years. The resort owner switched to ice castles for his guests and stored the Snobear unused with only starting it once or twice a year.
Mechanically it has a 3 cylinder, 950 cc, liquid cooled Briggs & Stratton/Vanguard gas engine and matching transmission. I believe this engine has 48 HP. The hydraulic lifting system and track system is exactly the same as the current SnoBear models. The cabin has a captains seat for the driver and benches along each side. I have a 2000 PJ 16-foot car hauler trailer that comes with it. The trailer was fully serviced and all lights and brakes work.
Upon purchasing it, I went about fixing it up as much as possible. All the following were done to this SnoBear:
Replaced factory carburetor with a Mikuni carb conversion kit (carb now has a manual choke like a snowmobile and starts and runs perfectly)
New starter
New exhaust system
New alternator
New fuel pump
Replaced factory propane heater with diesel heater with Wi-Fi control
Added fourth hole to floor
Replaced exterior mirrors
Replaced outside window Plexi glass
Added rod holders
Add tool holders
Added interior LED lighting
Added oil pan exterior heater
Brand new Optima red top starting battery
Added battery shut off switches
I basically upgraded as much mechanically as I could to ensure that I did not have break downs when I was out on the ice. The SnoBear starts perfectly no matter what the weather. It runs great and it easily travels at 20 mph on Lake Winnipeg.
Unfortunately I am selling it as I just dont use it enough. My brother owns SnoBear Expeditions on Lake Winnipeg so when I do get up there to fish on Lake Winnipeg I go out in one of his SnoBears so I rarely use mine. My SnoBear is serviced annually by SnoBear Expeditions mechanic who is probably the most knowledgeable SnoBear mechanic in Manitoba. Routine and pro-active maintenance is conducted every year despite the low usage.
This is your opportunity to purchase a well-running and well maintained SnoBear with low hours. I have a lot of pictures and videos that I can send you. The SnoBear is located on the south shore of Lake Winnipeg near Petersfield Manitoba. I am able to deliver the SnoBear to the US border (Canadian side) and would also sell it without the trailer.
