Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining protection systems that safeguard the electrical transmission system from faults and abnormal operating conditions. This role performs power system studies, develops protection philosophies, calculates and configures protective relay settings, supports commissioning and testing activities, analyzes system performance, and ensures compliance with NERC reliability standards and industry regulations. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience with power system analysis software, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Level I Applies basic engineering techniques for entry-level assignments with review and guidance from a higher level.
Level II Applies standard engineering methods and techniques to solve problems; moderate guidance and direction is provided and work is normally reviewed from a high level.
Level III Applies a broad range of engineering skills and techniques, leads projects, and provides direction to lower level engineers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Engineer I: ($73,460 - $91,830)
Must possess a bachelors degree in electrical engineering.
Engineer II: ($84,460 - $105,570)
Must possess a bachelors degree in electrical engineering.
Two years related work experience.
Engineer III: ($97,110 - $121,390)
Must possess a bachelors degree in electrical engineering.
Five years of progressively responsible experience and understanding in the energy industry including utility electric and gas operations, maintenance, design, and project management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior engineering experience in electric utility.
Training and proficiency in business application software such as Engineering Analysis programs, CAD, GIS, surveying principles, and J.D. Edwards.
An EI (Engineering Intern) or an EIT (Engineering in Training) Certificate.
Engineer III:
