Model 1892 Winchester, lever action, 38-40, early production, circa 1900. Museum quality!

Beautiful original 125 year old patina, both the wood and steel, never polished just oiled with a soft cloth, treasured by each one who got it from his Dad. Smooth tight action, well oiled and maintained, with no rust, nice bluing with no wear spots, sighted in and very accurate. All original parts. With the more desirable and more expensive and heavier full octagon barrel. Plus 47 rounds of ammo. This is the same model as the TV show, the Rifleman with Chuck Conners. Bought by my Great Grandfather in about 1900, plus or minus a couple years, and passed down. I am the 4th to own it. Serial number and amount produced yearly, puts it at that age. Number is less than 219,000. This rifle has never had bluing touch ups or any refinishing whatsoever. All original parts. This is the John Browning designed Winchester, considered by most, to be the best lever action rifle ever made. Extremely tight tolerances, fewer moving parts and no play or wiggle in the lever, open or closed, its just simply, solid smooth action with no binding. Totally blew away all previous models of Winchesters, and put them on top of any competition at the time.
